DESCRIPTION:
October 19, 1781 marks the last major battle of the American Revolution. American and French troops defeated the British at Yorktown. Every year the city of Yorktown, Virginia celebrates this event with festivals and parades in true colonial fashion. The official state holiday is on the 2nd Monday in October.
Celebrations go on through the 21st each year in the city.
